Washington Trip -- July 1-10, 2002
I t was my first time to Washington and I wasn't really sure what to expect. As I've told everyone over here - "I'm an East Coast guy!" and haven't played much on the west coast.
We got in pretty late and the 3 hour difference messed up our whole body scheduale. All we needed was a good nights sleep and then wake up to do some exploring.
The first thing I noticed about Washington after waking up was all the mountains. Being a kid from Holland, Michigan mountains weren't something I saw on a regular basis. Sand dunes mostly filled my idea of big hills and elevation. Now all that was thrown out the door and I now knew that all those pictures of mountains in the National Geographic magazine were real.

» Traveled to Washington
Tuesday
» Silver Lake fishing with Grandpa (kept 6 fish total)
Wednesday
am:
» Hung out with Aunt Ranae and Uncle Eldon
pm:
» We had a Salmon dinner with Grandma, Grandpa, Michelle and her husband Josh.
Thursday
am:
» Had breakfast with Pastor Paul & his family
» Went to Winthrop with Grandma and Grandpa (great scenic drive)
pm:
» Duane and Jill came over with their kids and we talked for a small while.
Friday
am:
» Went with Aunt Janet to Canada on a quick business trip.
pm:
» We had lunch with Duane, Jill and their family -
Spent most of the day with them.
» Then took off to spend some time at B&N.
» Later that night we got together with ALL the families and
had a hotdog roast and sat next to a fire at a park.
Saturday
am:
» Grandpa left at 2:30am for a week long fishing trip up north.
pm:
» Jodi and I went to Seattle for the day. Had a great time seeing Pikes Place market.
» Went to an outlet mall in Burlington and got some clothes from JCrew.
» Later that night we got some Little Ceasers pizza and rented a movie. Jodi finished her first
crocheted purse (good job Jodi).
Sunday
am:
» Went to church at First Church with Pastor Paul preaching.
pm:
» We had lunch with Grandma, Michelle and Josh and then went off to Vancouver
to see all that.
» In Vancouver we went to the park and had a great dinner at the Spaghetti Factory.
Monday
am:
» I woke up at 7:00am (later than I was planning) for a 7:15
meeting with a company about a website. -- they ended up going with me on the project.
pm:
» Around noon Jodi and all the girls got together and made homemade soap.
» Later that night we had dinner with Grandpa and Grandma Broersma
(different grandparents).
Tuesday
am:
» Went on a plane ride to Waldron island
» Had a meeting with Pastor Paul about worship
pm:
» Drove to La Conner for dinner and some antique shopping.
» Went to B&N to do some books shopp'in.
Wednesday
» Woke up at 5:45am and left for home.
