Road Trip: Toronto, Canada

After convincing myself that I don’t need a video iPod at the Best Buy right next to our hotel, we took off for Toronto, CA (192 km and 3 hours).

Grand Hotel Pool we swam in The trip from London, CA to Toronto, CA wasn’t anything spectacular but it did go rather quick. Jessica took a nap for most of the trip while Jodi read and I listen to my iPod Shuffle. I don’t know if it’s just because of the weather but I really like Cananda. It’s a pretty cool place and even though Canada butts itself right up to the United States, it’s still far enough way to see different cultures.

After getting into Toronto, we drove around a bit trying to find a good place to spend the night. We haven’t made any plans so far this trip so we didn’t have a clue of where we were going. We chatted in the car about some of the accommodations we desired. Things like a pool, fitness room (or floor), a big enough room to keep Jessica away from the foot of our bed and a Spa if we were so lucky.

With 15 minutes of driving around, we bumped into a small 177 room hotel called the Grand Hotel of Toronto. It seemed like a fancy place but we thought What the heck, we’re almost never on vacation and we booked a room.

The cost really wasn’t that bad - at $170/night we got a room with 2 TV’s and VCR/DVD players, a full kitchen with marble counters, a view of downtown Toronto, wireless (that actually works in each room), complimentary movies and quite a few other things. The rest of the hotel is amazing - you’ll have the check out the photo gallery to see for yourself. Jodi also posted a few photos of our room and around the hotel in my Flickr feed.

All in all we’re having a great time. Tomorrow we’re planning on hitting the streets of Toronto, so if you know of something cool we need to check out - let me know.
