Dealings and Wonderings

I don’t know if I can use the Generation Y argument or not but dealing with the same old issues is a pain in the ass.

Doing the same old thing because it’s the thing we’ve always done is such an old way of thinking.

Along with that - look at what is being done now online. Websites aren’t meant to be static pieces of content that never change and look/act like a brochure, they’re meant to be changed daily if not hourly. It’s also meant to give customers the ability to actually begin working with your business.

The ability to do online education, check your health history, send/receive bills, review your account status on almost any website is going beyond the norm and being demanded.

So when you want to do a website, ask yourself - are you wasting your time, money and the time of your users by only thinking as far as a pretty picture and some text. If that’s the case, you won’t be successful online.

Interesting. But what about those of us that don’t get very many hits per day? I try to have good content, think out side the box and provide my own thoughtful reflection, but when no one is reading it or commenting on it, it kind of feels like I’ve wasted my own time.

First off - there’s a big difference from a personal website and a business website - some could argue there isn’t but that’s another discussion depending on who you are.

As for posting, do it because you love it and can’t stop. Talk about what you’re learning and what your perspective is on life. If you have something good to say, people will come and stay.

I personally have a problem with this because I just don’t post everything I’m thinking - which is a problem. I will only get so many people looking at my website until I begin taking it seriously and begin talking a lot.

As for what a business should do - I still stand by what I said above. Interact with your customers or die.

Do you feel like people of say ‘my generation’ are the type to give companies feedback or even want to interact with them? From your experience, how are people my age at interacting with companies?
