It wasn’t more than a couple hours ago when Jodi and I were talking to Wayne and telling him about our recent trip to the Antique Fair in Allegan. He wasn’t as communicative as he normally was but it was to be expected.
At ten-o-clock Sunday night, we got a call from Jodi’s mom saying that we should come over right away - Wayne had just passed away. Tears filled the air while we drove quickly over. Family was together and after a few hours we began to talk about the life Wayne lived. He was a great man.
The night was long and as you can tell by when this post was written - it’s already into the following day.
On August 29, 2004 - Wayne passed away peacefully in his sleep. Kathy had next to him in a rocking chair the whole day and was with him till the end.
Update: Jodi’s words

I’ve been meaning to announce this for quite some time now but a few months ago I put a website together for a buddy of mine - Paul Ryckbost.
Paul has some great things to say and his website is becoming an important read for me. One reason I like it is because I personally like news better from weblogs than various media sources. People that use weblogs are often more resourceful in their articles (or posts) and usually provide links to other sites talking about the same issue - either from the same perspective or different.
On top of this - people can respond to what they are saying and it’s a much more personal conversation than you would get from any media group.
Anyways - Paul has been putting some great information together and I’m sure one day he will become some one great in Holland (or anywhere really).

Wayne (Jodi’s step dad) isn’t doing very good. He’s on his last leg and Hospice and the Doctors are saying that this week or next week will be his last. His eyes are getting rather yellow due to his liver being taken by the cancer and his memory & comprehension is quickly leaving because the cancer is taking over that too.
It’s a trying time but I think it’s going to be really hard on Jodi and her mom when things come to an end. Keep them in your prayers if you could.

For those of you that’ve had a hard time with the size of the fonts on this site - I’ve added a feature for you. If you jump over to the Paragon Extras you’ll notice three font size options.
The nice thing is - once you make your selection, it will remember your selection every time you come back to the website (if you’re using the same computer).
Let me know if I have appropiate font sizes or if I need to add any further sizes.

It’s one of those things that someone creates and you just say to yourself - “That’s so stink’in simple but so stink’in awesome - Why hasn’t this been done before?” DropCash is a new site that has recently been developed by Andre Torrez and Jason Kottke.
It’s a simple way to organize a fundraiser. Are you raising money for a charity, a trip overseas, a family gift for mom, or to pay off a surprise hosting bill? DropCash lets you set up a page so everyone can follow your progress as you near your goal.
Everyone is currently talking about it but the best thing about it (well, there’s some better things but I’ll let everyone else talk about that) is - it’s really easy to create a campaign.
I decided to give it a try and created a Baby Diaper Fund. I figured it was reasonable and people might actually think it’s a worthy cause. At least I hope so.
Realistically - As things are now, I probably won’t use the site all that much. However, if they continue to work on it and possibly allow you to display more of it on your own website - that would be great.
I could see quite a bit of smaller businesses and webloggers using this.
