Elevator Up develops for Disabilities
For a few years now I’ve been developing all my sites with assessability in mind (in compliance with Section 508). This not only includes my personal websites but all sites I develop.
Often times I will tell my clients that their websites will be assessable for people with disabilities and that it will also be accessible for Palm Pilots, cell phones, PDA’s, Web TV, etc… Many of them simply smile and don’t give much thought to what that really means.
Just today I received my first thanks from a client for my hard work in developing for people with disabilities. As you’ll read - they remembered me talking about it but never really put any thought into it. Now they are excited and trying to think of ways to promote this little known feature.
Hi Aaron,I wanted to pass on a complement we received. One of our agent’s clients is blind. He and his wife were looking at our website and were so impressed that the site was accessible to him, (telling him what was on the page). They said that most sites don’t do this.
Sue, my boss, had no idea the site was like that so she was really excited! I knew our site had that capability, but I didn’t think much of it. (Now I need to think of a way to promote that!)
Thank you again!
