These are my thoughts while watching the The Live Democratic Convention playing through my Television this late afternoon
As I’ve said before, I’m not much of a political person but it’s something that I find myself listening to and watching when things get closer to elections.
Tonight, while flipping through channels, I noticed the Democratic Convention being broadcasted on C-SPAN. John Edwards (Democratic Vice Presidential Nominee) was giving his speech and while Jodi was slowly falling asleep on the couch, I decided to see what he had to say.
My Thoughts
First of all, who ever is/was in charge of event planning needs to be fired. Within the first 40 minutes of watching everything - nothing seemed natural. I didn’t know what exactly they were trying to do and I don’t think they did either. Everything seemed incredibly awkward.
His words didn’t seem from the heart at all but something that we were supposed to blindly follow because he was the person he was. Everything he said was fine but beside the point. It was all playing on people’s emotions and completely avoiding solid solutions.
Things went quickly from the speech given by John Edwards (who by the way looks way to close to Clay Aiken), to what sounded like a 70-year old white lady yelling out in perfect school English clarity - “Who wants to get it started?” while Black Eyed Peas came running out.
When this happened old men in business suit, women in their 60’s, and veterans all stood up and started to shake what they thought was “their stuff”.
Everything seemed so fake it was awkwardly hilarious - kinda like those fake Christian Television network stations you wish would go away. You watch it and it’s just a joke, but there’s something about it that makes you want to keep watching to see what happens. It’s almost as if you are waiting for someone to start laughing because they can’t keep in the joke they are playing on everyone watching. They realize their lines are just to funny to not laugh.
I just can’t take this stuff serious.

When people like me start telling others to stop using IE, it sometimes goes by the waist-side. They’ll continue using it until it they realize the problems it really is causeing.
But - when the media starts picking up on it. People slowly begin to think. They start to see that this information is public and that it’s ok to not use Internet Explorer (IE) and, in fact, recommended.
I love it when this happens and I can begin to slowly rub it in certain people’s faces.
Update
For those of you wanting to read the article - it’s entitled “Hot tip in Microsoft mag: drop the lost Explorer. They may ask you to register - simply select the small option on the bottom that says something like “Register at a later time”.

For a few years now I’ve been developing all my sites with assessability in mind (in compliance with Section 508). This not only includes my personal websites but all sites I develop.
Often times I will tell my clients that their websites will be assessable for people with disabilities and that it will also be accessible for Palm Pilots, cell phones, PDA’s, Web TV, etc… Many of them simply smile and don’t give much thought to what that really means.
Just today I received my first thanks from a client for my hard work in developing for people with disabilities. As you’ll read - they remembered me talking about it but never really put any thought into it. Now they are excited and trying to think of ways to promote this little known feature.
Hi Aaron,
I wanted to pass on a complement we received. One of our agent’s clients is
blind. He and his wife were looking at our website and were so impressed
that the site was accessible to him, (telling him what was on the page).
They said that most sites don’t do this.
Sue, my boss, had no idea the site was like that so she was really excited!
I knew our site had that capability, but I didn’t think much of it. (Now I
need to think of a way to promote that!)
Thank you again!

I’m sitting here looking at this site and I’m wondering “What would make this site better?”. Right now it’s mainly a site where I share my thoughts (often referred to a blog) but that’s really it. Sure, I have a couple extra sections but they seem to collect dust.
One thing I really would like to make much bigger is my gallery section. I’ve love to start uploading all the pictures my wife and I have been taking over the years. However, the thing that seems to stop me is perfectionism. I want to have a sweet photo gallery that allows people to do a lot of different things. Hopefully I’ll get my act together and put one together soon and just work on it over time.
The other thing I’m wondering is - What would you like to see?. I know there’s quite a bit of you out there and you probably all have your own ideas of what’s interesting and fun but don’t feel like your ideas are bad because I really want to hear them.
So let me know what you would like either ME to do/add to this site or what YOU would do if you had the time or knowhow. Also note that your ideas don’t have to be completely thought out. You can say something like “I would like to see more community places on the site” and that would be good enough.

I can’t begin to tell you how busy things have been over at the Elevator Up offices. People just keep calling and a new project seems to begin every week.
I haven’t had much time to enjoy a social life or do the little things I love doing like, writing on this site, reading other websites, hanging out with my wife and getting sleep. Everything I have been doing for the past couple weeks has been directly related to an Elevator Up client.
I am happy to say that Elevator Up now has a billing department. This has made life for the Elevator Up staff a lot easier (in regards to accounting). We’ve also developed some Mailing List software that has become rather popular in some business markets (more on that at a later time).
So if you’re having a hard time with the lack of posts and have wanted to know what’s going on for quite some time - I’ve just been really busy. Hopefully within a month I’ll be able to breath a little more and have things scheduled out.
I’ve even been thinking about writting a few articles on this site. So, I’m still alive but just not able to spend my time on personal things.
