I’ll bet you a dollar

Every year it seems like the group of guys I hang out with comes up with a different theme to revolve ourselves around. One year it was the year of the Patriot. For those that don’t know what that is I’m not going to explain it. For those that do - I’m sorry I brought it up again.

Another year was claimed as the year of creep because we seemed to be in creepy situations more than we would have liked. Later we had a year of sudo-suave, the year of adventure and many others that would take me much to long to explain.

Each year a new theme seems to magically pop-up and there is nothing we can do about it. We of course don’t plan our themes - they just arise out of what we are all doing over and over.

This year has been the “I’ll bet you a dollar” theme. To be honest I’m not really sure how it started but it happened pretty quick. Every little detail in each of our lives seems to be the source of a dollar bet.

When a bunch of us went to visit a buddy at U of M the other week - we got caught up in betting who could do a longer hand stand. I’m happy to say I won that bet and came out of it with a couple bucks.

We’ll also bet on if our friend will politely pull out the chair for his girlfriend at Russ’ Restaurant and we’ll even bet on the fact that no bets will be made by other guys for at least an hour.

As you can see it’s a lot of fun but it sometimes gets hard to keep track of all the betting going on. That is until I found the site DozenHoles.com that allows you to keep track of bets with your friends.

It’s free to sign up and you don’t have to bet money. You can bet a variety of things from - “You owe me a dozen donuts.” to “You have to run naked down the street for a quarter of a mile”.

As you can see - this is a great resource and I’m looking forward to keeping up to date with all the betting that will be taking place over the span of 2004.

Let the betting begin.
