Everything is New

Now that it’s Spring here in Holland, Michigan I decided to fresh’in up around here at the Paragon. First things first is - I came up with a new design. Some of you may like it, some of you may hate it. It’s extremely hard to please everyone and I decided to just have fun with it and try something different.

Let me tell you a bit about what I’ve done around here; if you have a couple minutes?

PNews

One of the cool things about this design is that it’s much more focused on what I’d like to display and if you haven’t already found it, there’s a secret section on this site. Oh - you want to know where it is? Alright ….. If you take a peek up at the orange bar where is currently says “Paragon News” and a quick blurb. That’s where I decided to put in a neat little feature.

To actually see the whole section you’ll need to click on “Paragon News” and it will pop out various blurbs that aren’t quite big enough to merit themselves a whole post. I call it PNews and it has its own archives and it’s own syndicates information.

Better Archiving

I’ve also done quite a bit of work on my archives. Before they were just way to long and way to messy - I’ve organized them and re-organized them to display them the best way I possibly can right now.

Syndicates

The syndicates section of my site offers much more than I have before. I know many of you probably aren’t to familiar with this but I’ve put a couple notes to help explain what it does. If you do know what it does then I’m sure you’re a happy camper and you’re already pulling my feed.

New Server

I’m now hosting this website (along with many Elevator Up clients) on my personal server. No more having to pay another company to host all my sites, I’ve finally gone the route of dedicated servers. For those that don’t know what that means - it means that I don’t share a server (computer that hosts websites) with anyone else other than myself and the people I want to put on it. I have full control and if I wanted to delete everything on it for some crazy reason, I could just go right ahead.

Summery

Well, that in a nutshell is what’s going on here. I’m still finishing up with certain sections of the site and every once in awhile you might notice a glitch or two but just be patient and we’ll get there together.

All this said though, I’m curious on what you all think?

I like the new design, except for one thing. You and Ethan both require one extra click to get to your whole posts… I know it might make the whole front page easier to read, but it’s a little annoying when someone wants to read the whole sight. Otherwise, I think the new look is great!

yea, I can see that but when a post is going to be rather long, it’s nice to not weigh down the front page with all that content.

I personally only use it when I have a rather longer post. I figure that if a person is interested they can read more. If they don’t jive with the subject, they can simply skip past to the next entry.
