It’s been a couple days

It’s been a couple days since I’ve been on this site but quite a bit has been going on in the life of your author.

PowerMac G4 from Apple ComputersTo start out - I just ordered the jaw-dropping Powerbook G4 (15 in) laptop from Apple Computers. Fully loaded with a 1.25GHz PowerPC G4, 512K of L2 cache, AirPort Extreme Card, 15.2-inch TFT megawide display, 80GB Ultra ATA/100, Backlit keyboard, Gigabit Ethernet, Radeon graphics and a slot-loading SuperDrive. You can expect to see one on a schaapy lap sometime this month.

With a sad twist from recent excitement. My car isn’t doing so well and of course I found out after I ordered my laptop. The transmission is slowly going and right now I’m having a hard time going very fast in reverse - not that I’m racing folks on Friday nights, down main street in reverse.

Odds are I’ll be looking for a new car these next couple of weeks. The beginning of the search is always the hardest because you don’t know what to buy and how much you can/shoudl really afford. Let’s the games begin though.

Ishmael: An Adventure of the Mind and Spirit - by Daniel QuinnOn another note - as Jodi said below in the comments, Married life is going well and I’ve taken up a new interest in reading. “The Giver” is my currently finished book and I’m already on to my next book - Ishmael: An Adventure of the Mind and Spirit by Daniel Quinn. It’s possible that I’ll enhance the reading section to include book reviews, but I’ve been too busy these days to play with my own projects.

Everything else going on will have to wait for another post. It’s the weekend so tomorrow will be filled with extra sleeping and going up north with Wayne (Jodi’s dad) to check over some land for deer hunting later this year.

Since when are you a Mac user? I thought you were into Linux?

Aaron Schaap Says:

I actually started out as a PC person, Did support on them along with working on them for years. I’ve worked with various versions of Linux but haven’t really become a real Linux user. I mostly deal with Linux and Unix servers - but other than that, I don’t have a terrible lot of experience in that area.

Over the past couple years I’ve been working on Macs at work. Just recently I sold all my PC (except one - my laptop) and moved to the mac world.

I run OS 10.2.8 on a new iMac 700 MHz PowerPC G4 with 256 MB of RAM. I love Macs and now that they’ve embraced Unix as their underbelly - it makes development much better.

But I don’t need to convince another Mac user - you already know the benifits.
