Weekend in the UP

Weekend in the UP
This weekend Jodi Vermeulen and I left for an 8 hour drive to the beautiful city of Marquette. We’ve both been there before but it had been awhile. Plus we wanted to see our friend Ben Doornbos. If you’ll remember he got hit by a car and needed some company. The ride up wasn’t bad at all. We ended up leaving around 19:00 and got in a little after 2:00. Ben was already sleeping but woke up quickly to our soft yelling for him to reassure us we had the right apartment.
The Next Morning
The next morning we slept in for a small bit and finally woke up because the ground was to hard. Yea, hard wood floors will do that to ya.
Jodi and I wondered over to see Ben work’in but she quickly left to go do some runn’in. The girl is a cross-country runner at Calvin College and I guess has to keep in some serious shape. I however sat on my butt eating a bagel and talkí in to Ben about the simple things in life.
Later, after Ben came home, we caught up with a gal named Liz and went for a hike to find some waterfalls and mountain peaks. Some huffí in an puffí in along with some ooo’s and ahhh’s we finally found some amazing waterfalls and mountain peak.
That took most of the afternoon.
Log Cabins an friends
We met up with a bunch of UP’ers and went to spend the night in a Log Cabin some hike down another trail. We ate spaghetti, chopped some firewood, made a fire that gathered many other UP’ers and did some night hiking.
It’s hard to explain the amount of beauty that was viewed this weekend but everything was just amazing. We ended up leaving at 13:00 in order to get home at a decent time.
I wish I could explain in better detail but I’m trying to deal with the fact of being in Holland and having to work yet again tomorrow morning.
