The Homeless and I needed shoes
I’m a traditional Dutch man that hates giving anything away. More than likely you won’t find me just giving everyone the things I have (which really isn’t that much yet).A couple of days ago I ended up giving my shoes away to a homeless person that didn’t have any. In fact a bunch of people I was with gave their shoes away to various homeless people that had frostbitten toes and beaten feet.
Yea - it’s always hard to give up something you like (especially for the Dutch) but I’ll tell ya what. You feel good when you’ve helped someone out. It doesn’t matter if they are homeless or that co-worker that just hasn’t had the best of luck with life.
Besides, I could just going and pick up the same shoes a couple hours later.
With that in mind I went to American Eagle to find those lovely clog style shoes that fit my feet so nicely. When I got there I sadly found out that AE didn’t carry them anymore.
I bought a pair of shoes that I didn’t really like but hey - they were shoes and I needed a pair. After wearing them for a full day they just killed my feet and I decided to bring them to the AE in GR. GR seemed like a good idea because I already knew that the Holland store didn’t have them. So I walked in and was hoping to return and easily purchase another pair.
The nice part was that they had the shoes I had been searching for previously. The bad part was {…sigh} they weren’t in my size.
So I’ve been walking around with the crappiest shoes you could think of. Today I decided to go online and see if they had them there. Long story short - I’ll be getting a new pair of shoes in the mail in about 3-6 days and someone else is currently benefiting from my other pair.
Yea, my troubles didn’t seem to be that big considering the reason I was looking for a pair of shoes.
