I learn about Insurance

Today the Holland Sentinel had alittle seminar put on by their HR department to discuss what type of insurance and 401K options the companies offers.

After a good hour of listening to this policy and that deductible I finally found out that insurance is a scam. Worse off our insurance sucks. About $45.00 a pay period comes out of my paycheck - minimal. If I want to add any little features thadda be extra please. Luckily I don’t wear glasses because they don’t have optical insurance.

Basically insurance is very helpful to those people that have alot of health problems. For the people that are healthy and only need little check-ups here and there - they get the short end of the stick.

So you ask, “Why would you still keep your insurance?”. In fact, that’s a really good question. My boss’s whole outlook after the meeting was “Cancel my Insurance. I’ll just save that much into a savings account!”. Which would honestly save him money each month and even more over the years. We’re talkíin thousands of dollars just after 1 year if you’re a family.

I myself am shyly keeping my insurance. I’ve fallen right into the mindset that insurance companies want me to fall into - FEAR. You’ll always ask; “What if I really need it someday?”. That crap will always haunt ya.

On a brighter side: Hearing about our 401K plan(s) put a smile on my face. The company will match dollar for dollar up to 5% of your paycheck. A better deal the more money you make each year.

So my day of learning about insurance wasn’t all to hell. It’s just showed me what was really going on and though it was depressing, yes - it now makes alittle more sense.
