Nothing for Halloween
I honestly have no idea what’s going on tonight. I really don’t feel like dressing up. In fact, I really don’t feel like going to any parties.
In light of my not wanting to go I’ve come up with a couple costume ideas just in case I get asked to any more parties.
CABLE TV INSTALLER
I’ll just call the host and say I’m coming as a cable-TV installer. Then, don’t show up until a week after the party, at a time when the host isn’t home! Make sure I leave a pre-printed generic “Sorry we missed you” note!
MARIS
I’ll tell them I’m going to dress as Maris, the well-known wife of Dr. Miles Crain on “Fraiser.” As any regular viewer knows, Maris is never seen on the show!
INVISIBLE MAN
This one is obvious.
For awhile I was thinking about wrapping a bunch of aluminum foil around me and going as a baked potato but we ran out of aluminum foil.
Did you dress up or go to any parties?

Jodi’s in Washington State
Jodi doesn’t blog anymore so you more than likely haven’t heard the news unless you know the girl. She left for
Washington State with her mom yesterday morning at 5am and planning on staying until next week sometime.
So now that she’s gone what do I find myself doing? Catching up on some much needed sleep and studying. I haven’t had a good nights sleep since last Friday night. I was able to sleep in and wasn’t disturbed by some annoying alarm clock at 7 o’clock in the am.
I’ll be fine while she’s gone but it’ll be nice when she comes home.

TJOG.org validation problem
I’ve spent a good amount of my time getting tjog.org to
validate and I finally did it. Every single page on the site is 100% compliant with
XHTML 1.0 Transitional and
CSS standards.
That is until I had to use Paypal. I mean I was able to do alittle customization to the code they gave me but now the only problem I’m running into is this little border attribute in an input tag.
It tells me:
… aypal.com/images/x-click-butcc-donate.gif” border=”0” name=”submit” al …
Error: there is no attribute “border” for this element (in this HTML version)
Well yea, I know that. But how the hell do I accomplish the same task under the DOCTYPE that I am currently using.
I can’t seem to find anything in the W3C specs right now. Using CSS causes some really weird crap to happen to NN4.x users. Not that the site is the greatest to NN4.x users - it is however accessible which is all I care about. Their logs show that only have 4 percent of their users are coming from Netscape 4.x.
Ok - so my question to all you out there. How can I fix this little problem I have?

Holovaty.com talks about me
Every once in awhile it’s always nice to do a google search on your name. Today I did just that found that some people have talked about me in the past. One in particular being
holovaty.com - a site I find myself checking out every so often.
Holovaty.com is a site/person I look up to in the development world. He’s a very smart person and has alot of great things to say.
Awhile back I had ask alot of my CSS peers on the hollandsentinel.com development. My hope was to develop a site completely with CSS. Sadly I had to give up that dream in order to accommidate the 5% of Netscape 4.x users.
I received various tips [1] [2] but ended up deciding to stay with tables for a little longer.
I’m just excited that Adrian had some words to say about my dream :-)

Zeldman.com reveals his new design
You might have seen it earlier when it was in its V8 stages and you might have seen the small
ASCII changes if you read the site every day - now you can see the supposed final product.
“So this, we believe, is the new layout, give or take a subnav and a few nuances yet to come. Thereís a bit more work to do in Classics. And a great deal more to do in My Glamorous Life. But this is the gist.”
- says Zeldman
I personally like it. It’s something different and not something you look at and say, WOW! - you save that for the code that produces that doctors office green website.
On a somewhat related but completely opposite topic (related meaning I took this news from zeldman) - There is now another Apple.com/switch funny floating around.
I happen to like this one the best out of all the other ones I’ve seen. If I remembered where the other ones were I would show you and have you all vote. However, I’ve been trying to stop bookmarking every little cool thing on the web.
