In about 8 hours I’ll be walking out the door to catch a plane ride into Lynden, Washington. Lynden is a town not far from Seattle and will be my home for a solid 10 days.
Once I’m actually there not much is planned other than running around Seattle, Canada, and Lynden. Amongst the obvious relaxation and deep-sea fishing with Jodi’s Grandpa.
I haven’t really told to many people that Iím going to be gone. I told my parents, a couple friends, and a few clients that would really miss me if I hadn’t keyed them in on my absence.
I don’t really have much to say right now about everything but need to catch some Zzzz’s so I can make it through the terrible amount of waiting and traveling.
Wish me luck and Iíll report on the LIFE when I get there.

Add to the discussion.
For those of you that’ve been to the Lynden / Seattle area - give me a heads up on some things of the cool that I should be doing.
I would hate to find out that one of my readers was in the know and didn’t fill me in.
My ex was from Lynden. Isn’t it like a duplicate of Holland? Christian Dutch crazies running about with the tulips, blue and white plates (whatever those dutch things are called) and the such. You’ll feel right at home i’m sure. Just picture Calvin and Hope students *cringe*
Christian Dutch Crazies…. someone draw me a picture of that!!!!
i gotta admit, i’m the anonymous coward :)
see, i’ve become fairly jaded against dutch christian crazies, mostly because they’re so emphatically obsessed with their religion, yet can’t give me a single solid reason why i should even SUSPECT there’s a god(s) (not to mention the whole 3 in 1 thing)
anyway, have fun in lynden :) i bet the pictures wont be as cool as your europe ones hehe
just one comment for james —
i find that remarkably sad that you’ve never met a “dutch christian crazy” who couldn’t give you a single solid reason why you should “suspect” that there’s a god.
haven’t any of them ever read Mere Christianity????
Haha - what an interesting discussion that has begun that has nothing to do with this post. (..shrug) ah well…
I personal think James has done enough research and has had great influence from some of his elders to form an opinion on whether there is a God or not. (am i wrong?)
I think where so many people get things wrong is when they try debating for the sake of debating. I would suggest to simply explain what/who God is to you personally and why you think that. It all boils down to faith. People have to put faith into what they believe. Every religion is the same in this sence.
So for the sake of this beginning a rediculous debate to see if some Christian out there can prove God - simply feel free to share what God is to you and why you think this.
I’m interested to hear what many of you feel God or god is. Please try to only explain your views and not mock others. We can start up another discussion for that if you all would like :-)
Geez - I just read over what i wrote below and sorry if that’s not very clear. I’m going to blame it on lack of sleep - hehe.
I’m with James- Christians (especially the Dutch Crazies) have never given me a valid reason to take their beliefs seriously. “Mere Christianity” offers anything but a simple and rational argument for their worldview. If anything, it offers a watered-down version that is easier to swallow. Crazy Dutch who throw the trilemma at me will make me *suspicious* all right- but certainly not about their Jesus.
and just for the record, not only have i read mere christianity .. but i’ve owned a copy since about 9th grade, and have read it probably 4 times straight through, and i’ve read specific parts of the book (as well as other C.S. Lewis books (not to mention REAL philosophy books)) numerous times.
Also, you still haven’t given me a reason. Let’s say that I was born, in 1981 and 2002 rolls around. Why would i wake up one day, say … today, and suspect even for a second that there was a God? (note, i’m not an atheist, i really am very interested)
oh, and this post is about to go into the archives … heh what happened to your message boards ;-) Please email me if you can help me out, i probably wont check this post after it hits archive status ..
oh, and one more thing for trin—
I find it remarkably sad that EVERY SINGLE LAST ONE Christian can’t give me 100% undeniable proof of God, Christianity, and all the Christian dogma you live by being true. You people ARE supposed to have 100% faith aren’t you? Show me that mustard seed, move my mountins.
