solalization in the Bathroom

Wednesday_16:44

I’m a pretty easy going guy and I love nothing more than to say “HELLO” to people with a big smile after coming in contact with them. In fact I’m trying to make a habit of saying “HELLO” even to the people I walk past on the street.

The only time I really have a hard time saying anything or simply being friendly is in the work bathroom.

The Story

After drinking enough water to submerge a small country, I made my journey to the work restrooms as I have done before. The plan was to walk in and then walking out. Sadly - This time was different.

I opened the door and people were in the bathroom. Our work bathroom is made for more than 1 person but I’ve never been in there with anyone else. Really it wasn’t even a big deal until I made eye contact with one of the guys and from there it was just awkward.

I didn’t want to say hello or socialize with this person in any way on bathroom tile. I came there to get ride of something I didn’t want anymore and not to talk about sports or the weather. I just wanted to resume my normal routine of - IN and OUT.

It Happened

I didn’t want to do it but I had to - I said “Hello” and from then on it’s been awkward seeing this person ever since. It’s like I can’t ever say anything to this person without feeling the awkwardness of what I had been through in the bathroom.

In the above situation I should have left and come back at a better time. Maybe I was chosen to have this happen to me in order to teach all of you. If so - just please remember not to say “Hello”.

awkward hostage of embarrassment Says:

I had the same thing at work the other day. No one is ever in the womanís bathroom and I needed to use my lil’ johnette so I walked myself over there and out comes a MAN from the womanís bathroom. He noticed my surprise and the anxious look in my eye as I said - may I use the bathroom now? … He got red, replied with a hasty yes and walked away.

Later I found out that he was the sink guy, fixing our bathroom leak … this would have been good, even great information to have before that awkward silence, glance and sheepish conversation.
