Yahoo redesigns their homepage
_10:10
Yahoo.com is finally redesigning their site after 7 years of the same basic framework.
Since 1995, Yahoo.com has offered us many useful tools from email to personalized calendars and financial news. Its main goal was to be a one-stop solution for everyone and for the most part they have done just that.
One of the greatest things about Yahoo.comís homepage is their control of banner ads. In fact they don’t even sell full banner size ads but something call a “mantel” advertisement, which is placed in the middle of its homepage.
These past couple years yahoo.com has added many new features and now has advertisers banging on their doors for more advertisement space - thus the main reason for their redesign.
Yahoo.com hasn’t really explained what exactly they’ll be doing for their redesign but they have noted it will be noticeably different but not a completely new look.
The idea for redesign is being highly fueled by Yahoo’s advertisers that want more room. I can understand Yahoo doing this since web portals have been under stress for quite some time now.
As for myself - Iím interested to see what they come up with. Right now they have alot of features that are displayed more than once on their homepage and Iím sure they will reduce most of their clutter by taking care of such redundant information.
Take the survey to help them out.
