new ventures on the email side

Hotmail sucks

The way I use and read email might be drastically changing in the next few days. To start - I’ve had a hotmail account since 1996 and for quite sometime it was my only email account. Over the years I started learning how things work and quickly set up my own website and personalized email account.

Over the years I’ve used my “theparagon.org” email for simply talking with people and companies. My hotmail account was something I used for when signing up for something and didn’t want to receive mass amounts of email.

The problem has been, many people put my hotmail address into their address book. I’ve worked very hard to get people to change their address books but we all know a task like this can only be accomplished by national ruling.

But this week I’m hoping to stop using my hotmail account due to the incredible amount of SPAM I get on an hourly basis.

On the other side

I’m looking to switch from Outlook Express to the much heftier email client - OUTLOOK. Outlook has alot more of what I need such as: calendar (with reminders), task log, journaling area, post-it notes that you can place all over your screen, and much more.

The biggest reason is for the calendar and task log use. I finally set everything up on my laptop for testing and hoping to completely switch all my computers very soon.

There are a couple things that I’m trying to figure out though with Outlook. Such as - setting up Identity Switching. I’ll hopefully figure it out soon but if any of you have any tips on Outlook I would love to hear them.

You should really try to setup a Microsoft Exchange server at your house. That way, you could have multiple computers hooked up and housing all the data on the server. You could also have multiple identities.

Dude, HOTMAIL sucks. I can’t believe that they are so trying to push thier 20 dollars a year accounts for a previously free service. Do you think that I should pay the 20 bucks, or not? I’ve had my account since ‘97 and I have the original gale_chris, so I don’t want to give that up. But I’m sick of all my spam mail and the fact that it counts against my limit. Anyway, the question is, is it really worth the 20 for 10 mbs? Let me know.

I wouldn’t pay $20.00 for an email account through Hotmail. They do claim that things would be alot better but I don’t trust them.

You could do something mexican@chrisgale.com - that wouldn’t be that expensive ($49.00 a year) and would be a hell of alot cooler. You wouldn’t have to worry about SPAM nearly as much either.

I’m sure theirs a million other email accounts out there. If you really need one let me know. I can set up one on my site for alittle while - mexican@theparagon.org.

Places like the Holland Sentinel or your favorite website will more than likely have free email accounts. Make sure to start checking around before you pay Micro$oft more money.

Or your favorite Mexican could use an Outlook Express e-mail. All he has to do is set it up. It is already included in the price currenlty paid by “me.” We can have up to four other e-mail accounts that are included in the price.
