frustrated with technology

Wednesday_15:42

I’m starting to get really bored with the current technology that’s out there. I just can’t seem to find anything that really gets me excited. Maybe I haven’t been looking around enough or have been skipping over items for some reason because they were so expensive - either way I’m somewhat fed up with technology.

I get in these moods every once in awhile and they usually come about when I’ve been using the same pieces of software/hardware for to long.

Right now I really would like to have some sort of “Life Organizing System”. Something that would take all the information you gave it and helped you organized it. Maybe it’s done by days, months, years - or - concepts, ideas, failures, etc…

Along with this it would be nice to have it also be up to date on current laws. Such as TAX laws and advise me on what I could write off based on what I am doing.

I’m sure there’s something out there that does alittle bit of what i’m talking about but it would just be nice to not have to think so much and allow a computer to help you.

I can’t seem to think of anything else that would be cool but i’m sure you guys can. Any thoughts?

Memorial Day

Monday_22:28

It’s Memorial Day and I spent most of it eating more food than small countries output in a year. Jodi’s grandparents, from Washington (the state), came for the week and it’s been a feast for the first couple days.

Normally I would love eating so much but I’m feeling somewhat down because I don’t have much to actually do with all the energy this food is giving me. I’m stuck at Jodi’s house and have nowhere else to go.

Whoops - I probably should have explained why I’m stuck at Jodi’s house and can’t go anywhere. Well, my roommate decided to redo the floors (which needed to be done) and my room was also a room that needed to be redone.

Sadly I had to move all my stuff out of my room to the basement - where I work. I can’t live in the basement because there is now to much stuff and now I can’t even work there for the same reason.

Which brings me back to why I’m at Jodi’s house.

Honestly I’m going to freak out if I can’t move back into my room soon. I can’t focus or do anything because all my stuff is scattered all over the place and not organized one bit.

I’ve even thought about moving just so I could put all my stuff back together. Then realized I didn’t have enough money to do that and it probably would take just as long to move as it would be to wait.

So I’m sitting on Jodi’s computer and trying not to freak out with all my energy. I should probably build something but what?

Maybe i’ll try this working out thing that people seem to be doing.

reliablesport.com goes live

Friday_16:50

After months of working with Ken Vos, owner of Reliable Sport, their site finally went live - late last night. I should have taken a screenshot of what it used to look like but I saved their old site (just in case) - so maybe i’ll post a before and after picture sometime soon.

I think it turned out pretty good and it’s set up so they can update the site themselves via an admin section - along with adding new content and changing headers. I say that mostly because they still have to put in alot of their content (text) yet and don’t want you guys to think I just through it up their unfinished.

To be honest, it took me awhile to finally get the current content from them. So i’m pretty happy that it’s in their hands now :-)

Check out the final product ( www.reliablesport.com ) and let me know what you think.

I need a business name

Thursday_00:33 — I need a business name !!!

I’m trying to come up with a business name and really need some ideas. For some reason I can’t seem to really come up with anything really good. In fact their all so terrible that I’m not going to even show you for fear it will ruin any creativity you might be able to put into thinking of a name.

The only thing is that I need the name to emphasize what I do.

What will I be doing?

My goal is to offer:

  • web consulting for medium sized businesses
  • custom web applications
  • Vision casting
  • usability reviews/implementation
  • Compliance with Section 508 (if applicable)
  • Educate my clients on their many options
  • and much more

The focus is going to be on helping on client at a time. I don’t want to be a person/company that simply comes in and does there work and leaves. I want to be involved and be available for future expansions down the road - by setting up a review process specific to each client.

The only other thing that I would like to have (but isn’t a huge deal) is for my business name to start with an “A”.

I know this is alot to think of but I could really use some ideas. Please feel free to suggest anything else I should offer or look into :-)

Cold Morning

Tuesday_9:23

One of the worst parts about waking up in a cold house is the courage you have to gather in order to pull your body out of your covers. By the way you debate in your head over the pros and cons of why you should get out of bed or not makes you wonder if people lose battles because of this.

For me sleeping is something I hate - at night, but once I’m already in bed and have to wake up I could be ok with lying there all day long.

Last night one of my roommates left the windows open in the house. Of course it felt good then to have windows open but at 8:00 this morning it was the worst torture I’ve been in for quite some time. In fact - lying under my covers didn’t seem like that bad of an idea.

Obviously I drug myself into the bitter, cold air and managed to pull some clothes out of my dresser, but from now on I’m making sure all windows are closed before I call it a night.
