jabberdesign.com goes live - this is bad

Monday_21:14 - New Holland firm isn’t so helpful

Sunday’s paper announced to the Michigan area a new development firm has come together. This new firm calls themselves jabberdesign.com.

Jabber Design is not to be confused with the open source jabber.com/.org which is a software platform for building collaborative applications and networks. Like bridging various Instant Messenger clients (i.e. AOL IM, MSN, Yahoo, ICQ, etc…) together so they all can talk as one or creating platforms for CRM and conferencing.

Unlike Jabber - The new Jabber Design firm isn’t as glamorous. The companyís site has only been live for a small time and is only accessible at various time spots throughout the day(s). When you can actually get to the site you almost wish you hadn’t made it.

They’re loud design and messy site navigation shows a lack of serious experience on the web and their unfamiliarity with such words like - usability. Some of their links will even bring you to sections of their site that you can tell they didn’t mean for you stumble across. (which could be fixed by the time you read this).

It probably sounds like I’m just trying to mock this new company because I do the same things that they do. However - Quite the opposite. There are many web developers in the Michigan area that I’ve met and have nothing but good to say about alot of them.

The straight truth is:

When someone use software like Adobe Go LIVE for pushing out professional work and their designs fall into the same category as a geocities site - it doesn’t really help the web.

If you ask any true web developer what their reason(s) for working on the web are - they’ll answer with something like, “The web is a powerful communication tool and should be treated with this in mind.”

If you have a great communication tool you don’t want it to be all clustery and filled with unclear messages. As soon as someone out there claims to adhere to these rules but delivers an unclear message - it ruins the tool and in return - ruins it for us all.

hahah… Holy ****.

I could never understand how people could call themselves web DESIGNERS and not know how to

design.

What if we organized all the real DESIGNERS and DEVELOPERS in the area and took this town over.

These people wouldn’t even have a chance.

LOL.
I think you meant their. :)

The site was pretty bad, but the screenshots in the portfolio were not as heinous as expected. Maybe itís temporary.

Thanks for pointing out the typo - I’m horrible with spelling and will be the first to admit it.

And yes, let’s hope it’s temporary.
