playing the banjo

Thursday_12:31

You ever have one of those days you wish playing the banjo was in style and you could just sit on the porch with your dog singí in to the world. All while your rocking chair slowly tips back and forth.

What would people think? - I think, I wouldn’t couldn’t care and I would watch the clouds roll over me just as if I didn’t have any worry in the world and a small smile on my face as the sun slowly tans it darker than it already is.

That’s what life should be about - people need more porches and more relaxing on them. We need people stopping by to sit on each other’s porches because we all know each other.

The guys would talk about their day and how much they were glad to come home after a hard day at work. In the mean time the women would laugh and just nod their heads at how ridiculous the men sounded - all while chatting away with the other wives about a new sewing style.

This is maybe just a glance back in life or maybe even better - a glance in what is to come. Of course it could also be that Iím listening to “badly drawn boy - the shining” - a song you can’t help but imagine singing in a valley watching the clouds pass you bye.

I’m sorry, but did YOU write that?

Bill gates Says:

Wow, that sounds a bit sexist … ;-)

Nigel Tufnel Says:

yikes. I gotta don my political correctness cap and agree with the other posts. That did border a bit on the sexist tip. Perhaps it’s like in Spinal Tap - “But what’s wrong with being sexy?” “SexIST, you fool.”

Aaron Schaap Says:

Yes I wrote that - I was just in one of my day dreams.

On another note:

How the hell was that sexist?

That’s about as sexist as you can get holmes hehe Short of perhaps saying “why aren’t you in the kitchen right now?” every time you see a woman outside ;-)

I don't cook anymore because of this Says:

I’m going to let you all know that Aaron actually thinks it is the womans job to be in the kitchen - he told me this once and got my foot in his *** instead of me fixing and feeding him the food he thought i knew i supposed to have prepared for him.

I can’t believe that all you guys can see out of that post is that. I don’t see that as sexist at all - but if you all feel i’m a sexist then I should probably start acting like one shouldn’t I?

I would call it more old-fashionly stereotypical. The guys have their roll and the girls have their roll…SURE it’s sexist, but in both directions and either one could be good or bad depending on your opinion.

What’s so bad about the scene he painted? Would the guys really work all day, in an office with a clueless yet demanding boss and a merciless time clock while the women got to stay at home and do what they want? heck, if we women could BE SO lucky as to have the guys go to work! I mean, what sounds so bad as eating bon bons, watching TV, hanging with the ladies and chatting while pursuing hobbies that we desire? SHOOT! NOT that I Couldn’t go to work myself, but if someone else is willing to do it… WHY NOT!? I’ll stay home and watch TV, play the guitar, sew, surf the internet, shop, have tea, work out, email, roller blade, ride a bike, play pool, read books, etc etc…. and possibly do a little cleaning here and there. :)

BUT a double income is pretty sweet in the long run too… I’m all for THAT! $$$$

“people need more porches and more relaxing on them. We need people stopping by to sit on each other’s porches because we all know each other. “

That’s the part I like the best! Yea to camaraderie! and Yea to your story!
