Greymatter has been a great piece of software to handle alot of basic features you see on my site but over the last week I’ve just had alot of trouble with it.
For some reason the comments link will delete itself after someone adds an entry. This doesn’t help the community aspect of my site one bit. I’m looking at other systems and movabletype.org is looking as if it may win. So many people are talking about it and it has alot of extra features that would be great for my site.
The only thing is - it’s a pain in the butt to move over to a new system. You have to learn the in’s and out’s - install it - import all your old log files to work in the new system - then just hope to God nothing screws up your site.
Is all that possible? I might just need to take the chance - however movabletype.org is talking about releasing a new version 2.0 with some kick’in features. Should I wait? ……. I don’t know if I can.

Hey schaap .. stupid question but are you updating your page by hand , greymatter , or a php backend?
I update it using greymatter. It’s a great open source peice of software but the only problem with it is that the creator doesn’t work on it anymore. Recenlty there have been a couple people who have taken it upon themselves to fix alot of greymatter’s bugs along with adding many new features.
If you are going to use something like this for the first time - I would go directly toward movabletype.org. Honestly a kick’in app. If you can - try to wait for their new version comming out in Feb. or march. They’ve been getting alot done and might have an early release.
There are many others - I know blogger.com is working on some new bells and whistles alone with focusing on business blogs at a yearly rate. A great tool for offering a client. Easy to use and supposedly going to have a way for end-users to input images into their logs without having to know code.
I am however hoping to put together some PHP apps but not going to focus on using it for updating. It’s already done very well by the people I mentioned above so mine as well let them pump that out while I work on other projects.
