If you come to my site from the index page you’ve probably seen theparagon.org’s new Splash page. It’s nothing outstanding but I like it. Now that I’ve changed the Splash Page - i’m hoping it will motivate my brain to start coming up with a new design for my site.
The process in coming up with a new design is a rather long one, in my opinion. A design reflects who you are and what you stand for. It reflects where you want to go and where you have been. Along with all those things - It’s a way for me to express myself.
I said earlier that this whole provess is a rather long one for me - between a couple hours on toward a couple months. Basically I start thinking of all kinds of ways my site can/could function and when it hits me I open up Adobe Photoshop 5.5 and Homesite 4.5.2.
Once I come up with an idea I’m stuck in front of my computer for a couple days/nights - straight. It’s so exciting to finally pull back the curtain to what you have spent so much time on.
Until I have that great idea, I’ve decided to start reading a book called Web Redesign : Workflow That Works to get my creative juices flowing. I finished Zeldman’s book (Taking Your Talent to the Web) last night and this new book couldn’t have picked a better time to come into my life :-)
I’m going to be adding various things to my site but want to hear from you all. What do you think I should add/subtract to my site? Give me your thoughts - little or big. If another site does it then feel free to direct me toward that site so I can get a better picture of what you are talking about.
So again - What should add/subtract to my site?

Add to the discussion.
take the site off the net it sucks
From now on I will be deleting post like the one below. There’s no reason why I need someone moking me and my site and not be man/woman enough to actually leave their name or e-mail address for someone to respond to them.
Like i’ve said - if you don’t like my site - simply don’t come to it everyday (as the below person seems to). You are not funny and seen only as a fool.
Again - from now on these posts will be deleted and your IP will be banned from using the features on my site.
people like “haha” as they call themself - don’t seem to get the whole “people skills” gene and probably don’t have many friends. Is this someone from Amsterdam??? if it is - all i have to say to and all i’ll ever have to say to you is … i’m pretty danm sure i have more friends than you
1) take haha off the net
2) haha is a jackass
3) add more pictures of your hair
4) for pete’s sake, can we have more dairy farm arguments?? =]
Aaron- I think it’s okay to let children like haha post negative things. It adds a little flavor. Besides, you have a killer site. You have nothing to be ashamed of.
definitely ditto joel’s note.
and personally - i’d love to see more pictures of your hair. =D
I may sound sappy but it hurts when someone is just plain mean to me for no reason. Especially when there only intent is to be a dick.
Before you push the ‘POST IT’ button on the bottom it reads the basic rules of my site. “if your intent is to be mean, hateful, or just plain stupid - I will delete it your post and kick you out”
What am I showing other users if I don’t follow through in what I say? I honestly have no problem with controversy on theparagon.ORG. Dan Fris brought a great conversation on MILK a small while back. Those types of posts are ok.
It’s when someone just posts a simple sentence of direct hurt that makes it hard to bare.
Plus - right now I’m having a really hard time with not having a job and my website is one of the few things that makes me feel good. I don’t mind constructive criticism and if he/she gave a reason or an idea in how I can change it - that would be something completely different.
So in short - People can have opinions and argue with me on my site. But they will not come to my site and yell rude things and leave.
Don’t let stupid comments that people make get you down. You have a talent with webdesign that I bet the person that made the nasty comment doesn’t. Keep that in mind :)
Yea i think you should post people’s comments even though no one who actually visits this knows anything about web design. Oh yea i thought you banned my ip from visiting this site i guess not. isnt dhcp a great thing but wait i haven’t renewed my ip for a few days i guess aaron doesnt know how to block people’s ip
Aaron- you had a point before. If haha (Bill) hates your site, it seems weird to me that he is a frequent visitor….
Well billy - you’re right. There’s nothing that I know of right now that can stop someone with DHCP. Unless I went to user log-in’s and have their information e-mailed to them at sign up. Then if I didn’t want them to post I would just cancel their account.
More work on my part but maybe it’s something to play around with in the near future.
As far as you IP. Do you actually check your IP? Because when you posted that first time your IP was 207.74.24.183 - Your post just recently had an IP address of 24.247.181.201. They look different to me.
On another note:
What do you do for a living? and why do you feel as if you know so much about the end-users of my site?
I’m all for some more dairy farm equivalent discussion, derek.
haha Says:
take the site off the net it sucks
