diggy died

what diggy used to look like

Bad News:

Today started out very hard for theparagon.org. I used to have a friend I nicknamed “diggy”. Last night diggy was pushed (by accident) off a dresser by Joel Boyles and didn’t make it. The horror and reality of what happened didn’t quite set in until later that night when I wanted to start taking pictures again.

All those wonderful weeks and many snap shots was now just a passing memory.

Good News:

I had a conversation with my parents on what had happened and to find out where “diggy” was born. After some tears and yelling of injustice I found his origional place was Circuit City. A couple hours later I finally showed up and pulled away my tear, pushed my chest up, and walked into the store to discuss what had happened.

Of course they were outraged at what had happened and called diggy’s family. The family felt bad and felt they should send one of their sons to take diggy’s place. They said - “Diggy would have wanted it this way.”

I thanked Circuit City and went back home. It’s going to take a couple days (till Sat.) until diggy’s brother gets here so in the mean time - out of respect - we are going to stop the picture log until his brother comes. It only seems like the right thing to do.

Do you have any fond memories of diggy?

quit my job

Wednesday_14:53

I want to thank you all for you comments below - I never quite know how to quit a job, especially when I only worked there for a day. I did call the Holland Sentinel and told them it wasn’t going to work out.

Actually I told them, I’ve been getting alot more web development freelance jobs and was finding myself getting busier and busier. I said I would come in on Thursday and finish out my week but they said I didn’t have to if I didn’t want to. (so i’m not going too)

Quiting your job is really hard but I did it - Now I have to look for another job. Hopefully my next job won’t be as horrible as the one I just got out of.

on another note:

I spent a quite a while updating my picture log and have almost everything up to date. I need to finish up yesterday’s and get some of today up on there. Keep checking back and thanks for the comments and email’s letting me know you guys like the picture log :-)

depressed

Tuesday_17:45

Today just crushed me - I started this new job at the Holland Sentinel as a Ad Salesman. I have never hated a job so much on the first day. Even worse - nothing was explained in detail. I was this kid that came out of nowhere and all of the sudden in a group of people who already knew who they wanted to be with and who they didn’t want to be with.

They were really nice people but they just gave off the impression that they didn’t want to bother with me. Maybe it’s just a completely different atmosphere than the one(s) i’m used to. I’m usually around designers (web &print) - those type of people are usually pretty fun.

On top of that everyone was down for some reason or another. The economy isn’t doing so great and affecting alot of people - Newspapers included. Everyone was stressed out and/or yelling about injustices.

I finally left at 4:45 because I couldn’t handle it anymore. All I know is that I don’t want to go back. More than likely i’ll just call them and quit. At this point I just don’t care.

going to GR tomorrow

Monday_0:25

In alittle over 6 hours i’ll be leaving with my dad for Grand Rapids in search for a job. My dad work’s at Choice One Communications and has been there for quite some time. I guess I should say he’s been in that building for quite some time - they’ve been bought out, I think, 3 times now.

But I’ll be piggy-backing to Grand Rapids and hoping that GR has more going on than simple old Holland. I just want to find a good company - one that is growing and shares my excitment for the web and where it’s going.

I have alot of ideas and just need a group of people to listen to them and help put them together. I’m sure i’ll find a company like this some time in my life but the trick is to become employed with them.

Tim Vroom, my roommate and creator of perlmonks.org, has been brainstorming with me on various websites that could be alot of fun but also a big hit. Basically (with out telling you everything so you can steal it) we want to great one main site that would foster many of our other idea’s. From funny stupid idea’s toward complex sites that serve more of a purpose than to make people laugh.

This might happen soon or it might not happen for a year or 2. We do however have alot of fun talking about it and putting together idea’s.

on another note:

Sorry for the lack of pictures in my daily log. I’ve been having alot of computer problems and haven’t been able to get one of my computers online. This week i’ll be moving all my stuff to my new house and i’m planning on reformatting my computers and starting from scratch.

Once I do that i’ll post a million plus pictures. I have been taking pictures still and will get some up hopefully in the next couple days.

moving begins

Saturday_22:25

After not going to bed until alittle after 5:30am last night you could say that i’m rather tired right now. Alot of it has to do with the massive amount of moving from house to house.

Moving is a great feeling because it’s almost as if you get a new life. You are around different people and your surroundings aren’t what they have been for the past months. Am I excited about moving? Yea - you could say it will be nice but a part of me will really miss the familiar comfort of the place I am now.

Emily and Tim have been great roommates and living with them has been awesome. But times change - other people charge less rent and the poor move. However i’m planning on having alot of fun. Hopefully I won’t have to pull out my kick boxing moves on Joel or Dan. They seem like nice guys though.

Right now I really need to finish watching James Bond on ABC. You have to respect the classics.
