almost Christmas

Sunday_24:27

Wow!!! This week just took everything I had. Work is alot of fun but I got thrown a couple projects that needed to be done before Christmas. I got them on Wednesday though. Luckly I got one done and got a great start on the other ones.

The weekend finally came and not a moment to soon. I spent most of Saturday sleeping and reading Jonathan Livingston Seagull : A Story. Ethan (a close friend) gave me this wonderful book on my 21st birthday.

Amazon’s Review on the book:

“Most gulls don’t bother to learn more than the simplest facts of flight—how to get from shore to food and back again,” writes author Richard Bach in this allegory about a unique bird named Jonathan Livingston Seagull. “For most gulls it is not flying that matters, but eating. For this gull, though, it was not eating that mattered, but flight.”

Flight is indeed the metaphor that makes the story soar. Ultimately this is a fable about the importance of seeking a higher purpose in life, even if your flock, tribe, or neighborhood finds your ambition threatening. (At one point our beloved gull is even banished from his flock.) By not compromising his higher vision, Jonathan (the main seagull) gets the ultimate payoff: transcendence. Ultimately, he learns the meaning of love and kindness. Nonetheless, it’s a spirituality classic — Gail Hudson

Have you read any books lately? If so let me know. I’m trying to start reading more, and not just web development books (as much as I love learning from them). I’m planning on reading the The Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis this coming week.

Mom Says:

Hi Aaron ~ I had to read Jonathan Livingston Seagull in high school. I have a JLS pewter necklace. I reread it when you were in HS, and thought I’d let you read it, but decided not to. I’m glad you read it now ~ your perspective is better!
