softcover books

My family decided to join Thanksgiving and Christmas into one this year because my Grandparents will be in Texas on vacation for 3-4 months.

We always have Thanksgiving and Christmas at my Grandparents house and I guess everyone couldn’t have it any other way. Although - now that we’re doing everything at once (over Thanksgiving) I won’t be able to be at either. I’ll be in Europe for the whole time.

Sad as this might seem - My Grandparents gave me my Christmas gift early. I got some CD-RW (for burning), a 2001 coin mint set (I get every year), some cash for my trip and my favorite gift of them all - A $25 gift certificate at Barnes & Nobles.

I was so excited I went out tonight to find something to buy. I saw a couple books that I wouldn’t mind getting but thought that it would be cool to find some books that were like DfC.

Taking Your Talent to the Web: A Guide for the Transitioning Designer by: Jeffrey Zeldman came pretty close to this but wasn’t on their shelves. I went home and checked out B & N’s site along with Amazon.com’s site. Both had the book but one was more expensive than the other place.

Guess who was asking more for it? Yup - you’re right….. B & N. So now I’m trying to figure out if I should spend $32.00 or if I should spend $28.00 at amazon.com.

Maybe I’ll just buy the book at amazon.com and spend my $25.00 on something else. Or maybe I should just pay the extra $7.00 for the book and get it from B & N. Geez - why am I making this such a huge deal?

I need some ideas on what to do and on book suggestioins.

Add your thoughts.

Trinity Says:

Mm, I’d buy the book from Amazon and then spend the gift certificate on something else (though I must admit, I don’t have any suggestions for you book-wise :).

It seems like such a shame to have to ADD $7 of your own to a gift certificate.
