Bank greed

friday_2:00 PM

Let me ask you this: If you were to trust someone with holding your money for awhile - you should be able to get that money back at anytime, right?

Now what would you think of that person said, “I’ll give it back but I need to make sure it’s you. Can you prove that you are who you say you are?” - Somewhat frustrated you might even show them some sort of ID to prove it.

Now that person knows who you are and acknowledges that he/she has your money, but says… “You will need to write me a check for ONE dollar to get your money back.” - I don’t know about you but that would push me over the edge. You might even think of that person and a huge prick.

Sadly enough, this happened to me not more than an hour or so ago. You see - I forgot my wallet at home and when it was time for lunch I didn’t have any money. I thought that I would be able to stop by my bank and just explain what had happened and be able to take some money out of my account by simply giving them my social security number and writing out a checking withdrawl slip.

Nope, it’s not that easy at Fifth Third, no - you have to write them a check and pay them more money for doing nothing. I just find that rediculous and see them as greedy little pricks. Why else would they come up with a policy such as this.

What is this world coming to… I mean, I should be able to walk into any bank in America, give them a cheesy story, a social security number and walk out with some cash!

Aaron, maybe I’m just upset about you proving me wrong yesterday, but I have to say that I am totally for Fifth Third on this.

Now, if you made a hit at their STUPID name, maybe I would take your side….

Sorry Joel - I talked about how stupid their name was earlier. You can check “the old” if you don’t believe me. I even e-mailed them and got back a pretty good explaination on why they were named that.

And as far as just walking in and giving them a cheesy story - that’s exactly what I did. I gave them my SOC and my name and they made me pay money to write a check.

Anyone could do the same thing but they would have to find out a persons SOC and then figure out which bank they are at. Then they would have to know my address and be able to sign like me.

Fifth Third had no right to charge me money to get my OWN money out of my account.

I’m currently contemplating taking all of my money out of the bank and burying it in my back yard.

I’d say go with Macatawa Bank - they’vebeen nothing but good to me - i’d even go as far to say that they’ve been GREAT! It’s like my CHEER’S where everyone knows my name … and they do -

ok I might call that pathetic on my part, that they all know me by name … but hey - atleast I can walk in there and get my OWN money out of MY account without any hassles. or FEE’S!

so to sum this up - it’s all about MACATAWA BANK. - definantly
