Jodi talks to herself

Thursday_13:34

Usually when you say good bye to someone they think that the conversation is over. Not my girlfriend. She’ll just keep talking and if you’re not there - she’ll just talk to herself. Haha!!!!

schaapy: i really need to get some food though

schaapy: SOOOOO hungry

jodibroersma: yea and now that you HAVE food

schaapy: i’ll be back though

jodibroersma: you can

schaapy: :-)

jodibroersma: i do have to say though

jodibroersma: that that will be my department - although i’ll want you to come with me - so we can do it together - but I WILL BE THE SHOPPER!

jodibroersma: you can do the laundry …

jodibroersma: good trade

jodibroersma: but maybe i’ll do my own laudry like my mom does it … because she takes care of my clothes - you just throw it all together and go for it

jodibroersma: but what ever

jodibroersma: so you’re not there any more huh?

jodibroersma: i’m talking to myself aren’t i?

jodibroersma: yea thats great

jodibroersma: SO, JODI … whats new?

jodibroersma: well you know i did have alot fo fun shopping with aaorn last night … although he’s so dutch iwant to kick him … but nonetheless it was fun

jodibroersma: and i’m having a really good day - i went to gregor dogs for lunch and enjoyed myself alot … it was fun to be back to normal …

jodibroersma: i do have a dentist appoinmetn today - wish me luck on that one - i guess i haven’t been there in a year and i need to go to let them pick at my mouth because somehow they justify the pain with “professionalism” how they do this i have no idea … but hey - i have my fetishes as well … might as well let them have theirs

Waking Life Movie

Thursday_24:48

What role does genetics play in the formation of the soul?

Waking Life is the rare kind of movie that makes your jaw drop in more ways than one. It’s worth the price of admission (more than once, in my opinion) just to behold the ‘rotoscoping’ animation and deep thoughts.

Amazon.com’s Review:

“Waking Life is a film that never settles down. Or maybe it never wakes up. Regardless, Richard Linklater’s animated meditation seems to strike a perfect balance between the plotless meanderings of Slacker and the unquenchable knowledge-seeking of Hermann Hesse’s Siddhartha. Any way you look at it, this is a weird, original movie.

As he attempts to figure out what separates dreams from reality, the protagonist (Dazed and Confused’s Wiley Wiggins) hears an earful from everyone he stumbles upon. Ramblings range from the scholarly (Linklater’s former college professor Robert C. Solomon gives a monologue) to the banal (of which there are plenty).

Ethan Hawke, Julie Delpy, Steven Soderbergh, and Adam Goldberg all get animated cameos, basically playing themselves. The dream-centered dialogues eventually grow mind-numbing, but that’s OK; the animation steals the show.

Each frame of the movie, which was first shot with live actors, was painted over, and the process renders a distorted and trippy collage of sights and sounds. Linklater’s film is ultimately quite poignant, but, as with any good journey, you’ll need to sit through some fairly tedious moments before reaching the destination.”

Thanks Joel for bringing me to this this movie - I owe you one :-)

realizing I have no car

Tuesday_22:57

It’s been quite some time since I’ve actually owned a car and it’s really starting to get to me now. Always walking, riding my bike, or trying to catch a ride is getting harder and harder. I am a busy person and I can’t expect people to drive me around like some Limo service.

When I was in Europe they had great public transportation. Everyone road their bikes, walked, or just jumped onto a train. Holland (MI) people don’t seem to take much care for those without cars or without reliable transportation. They hop into their cars and take for granted how easily they get around and don’t seem to notice Holland’s huge lack of public transportation.

Why doesn’t Holland have good public transportation? Does the mayor and his groupies not see the importance of this system? I could be completely wrong and they could feel strongly about public transportation but just don’t see people asking for it.

Holland is known for being a rich county. A place where kids will get a free car for their 16th birthday and maybe even free insurance and gas. I don’t hate those kinds of people and don’t have any regrets for not being apart of that rich culture.

I should really focus my energy more and somehow get on the Holland Board. How does one go about that? Do you know how?

work’in sucks

Monday17:43

Working isn’t all that much fun when you just got done with a small tour of Europe. As far as work goes though my job is ok but I would much rather spend that time doing freelance work and/or just reading and working on my own projects.

Whoever invented the concept of money should be brought to a valley and shot. The simple fact of me spending some 8 hours a day gives me an indication that life would be much better served, not working.

But who am I do challange this historical system? And if I was to entertain this idea challanging the system - how would I go about it? What are my first steps? This is probably the place where many have failed or given up in the search of challanging the working system. I’ll start out with smaller questions but I need your help.

questions:

- What do you do for a living?

- Why are you doing that?

- What would you rather do?

- Why aren’t you doing that?

- whitey-tighties or boxers (most important question)

Kohl’s Card

Sunday_17:42

Around 12:30 I called my parents and told them I was actually in town. I really was looking for a free meal but seeing your family every now and then is always a nice thing to do.

We all gathered around a table at Applebee’s where I explained the trip to th fullest I possible could. I brought some money from the various places I had gone and explained how much they were worth here.

Kirk was there and I guess is going to be a regular around the schaap family for who knows how long. Leah (my sister) bluntly told me that they were going out during a conversation. I think she’s rather excited about having a boyfriend. {…hopefully she doesn’t read this log for fear of embarressing her - o-well}

After the feast my mom had to make a quick stop at Kohl’s to buy a top. Not a problem but knowing how my mom does things quick, I decided to do alittle shopping as well.

I didn’t buy a whole lot, just 2 button up shirts, a sweater, and a pair a slacks. I showed my mom to make sure they were good choices and then went off to purchase my new outfits.

When you only have a couple things in your hands, you don’t plan on it coming out to be $96.78. I was forced to get a Kohl’s Card for the 10%.

I didn’t want to but it was the only way. So I quickly filled out some paper work that I didn’t even read - probably having something along the lines of giving them 3 of my fingers with every missed payment while interest on my purchase grows 300% a day I’m over.

So I am now a proud holder of a Kohl’s card - or so the piece of explained to me.
